Bishop and Moses Families

Chris has been on me to get this blog out like the barley I burned into one of our best pots earlier today. As in, really, really on me (and can’t be scrubbed off no matter how much I try). Probably this is because last month, when it was my turn to blog, I was two days late in gettin’ it done. Luckily for me, this week has not been too hectic for us. Since this is the last week of one of my final Master’s classes, I’m actually really surprised about the lack of intense work. Maybe they’re trying to be nice to us before we start our capstone projects next week… Whatever the reason, it’s been a freeing week with time to go grocery shopping, find delicious, healthy recipes, meal plan, and burn the heck out of our pots. (Sigh. That was a good pot.)

Enough about my cooking woes, though!

Let’s get down to business here. Specifically, the two adorables who are showcasing today’s post.

Oh, how I love taking pictures of these two babies.

Seriously, there is just too much cuteness to stand it when these two are around.

What else do I love? That we’ve gotten to photograph their entire first year!  From newborns, to six monthers, and now they’re a year old! And now that I think about it, we’ve actually had a fourth shoot with Will—his pre-coming-into-the-world photo shoot—aka, Chris and Shay’s maternity shoot.

These two bambinos, and Nelly’s big brother Alex (who apparently won a big award at his sixth grade graduation today, good job, Alex!), are just the sweetest, most fun to photograph kids on the planet. Look at those smiles! Look at those mischievous grins! Look at the excitement of playing with gigantic candy! Look at those great big brother skills!

Cousins. They’re the coolest, right?

Moses Family

We are at my parents house for the annual trivecta grandfather, father, son birthday bash. Yes, today is my 28th birthday. My grandfather and father are all within 2 weeks of mine, so my family always picks a weekend to get everyone together and eat cake. Jordan has been springing little surprise on me all week, which has been super sweet and thoughtful. We are so busy after our day jobs with editing and shooting on the weekends that little things like vacuuming the house or coming home to dinner ready on the table goes a long way. Our house didn’t come with a remote to open our garage. And since I park in the garage, for the past 10 months when I get home I’ll call Jordan and she runs down to open it for me (isn’t she sweet?). But Jordan’s teacher Michelle (who you might remember), gave us a universal remote that Jordan spent over an hour to program yesterday and got it to work before I got home (I had no idea I married the hot handy chick from Home Improvement!). I’m so excited I’ll be able to just swing in now! It’s the little inconveniences of life that make it interesting right?

You guys remember Will as a newborn right? 6 months later and he is modeling his trendy hats over a full head of awesomely curly hair and smiles when Chris and Shay call him by their self-assigned nickname, “Chunky”! I’ve probably told you guys this before, but Chris is my oldest and one of my best friends in the world. We grew up on the same street starting when I was 6 years old. Some of my first memories are of us playing in the empty dirt field next to our houses. It’s funny how things come full circle, 22 years later, capturing Will’s childhood moments. And though they recently moved back to Las Vegas, you are definitely going to be seeing more of this little guy as we have a couple of special shoots coming up with his cousin Penelope that I’m going to keep you in suspense about. Take care friends.

Moses Family: Newborn

Okay, this little guy has got to be the trendiest one-month-old there ever was and will be. From his adorable cloth diapers to his button up cardigans, there was just too much cuteness to handle when we did this photo shoot for some of our dear friends, Chris and Shay. (You might remember their maternity shoot.) Baby Moses (a.k.a. Will) was a trooper for the whole shoot- not one tear or fuss. Perfect disposition for a newborn shoot.

And will you look at that head of hair? I just love babies with lots of hair.

Will shared his photo shoot with his cousin Penelope, who will be featured a little bit later, but I want to tell a little bit of their cousin story here. These two, believe it or not, were born on the exact same day. Yes, Shay’s sister Chelsea went into labor, had her baby, and no sooner had Shay gotten home from visiting then she had to go right back to the hospital. I just love stories like that. Those two babies are going to grow up best friends just like their mamas.

Thank you for being such a good sport, Will! Even when we stripped you down to that cute red diaper, you didn’t make a peep of protest! Maybe a couple looks of concern, but still… ;)

Holz Family, Part Two

Time for the second installment of the Holz family! Let’s just pause first of all to talk about how awesome their house is. They bought and revamped this place a few years ago, and it is simply the greatest place to take pictures. They’ve got a white picket fence. A tire swing in the front yard. A garden. Those old wooden rocking chairs, perfect for summer evenings of sitting out in the yard. They’ve got a pile of fire wood outside their front door. And. And. They have an old school Radio Flyer wagon. All of the above make an appearance in these photos. We literally could not stop pointing our cameras around their yard.

Since baby Marshall made up most of the first post, we decided to showcase the one-and-a-half-year-old big brother, Bennett, in part two. Bennett plays hard, guys, as showcased in that nice battle wound in the second to last photo. He’s a busy little guy- much too busy to stop for a picture, what with all that swinging and gardening and carting the firewood back and forth- but we had fun following him around while he did his chores. :)

Newborn: Holz Family

We’re wrapping up from our Fourth of July festivities over here, trying to work off those hot dogs and pork chops we ate yesterday, and going through our fireworks photos. (They’re not very good, thanks to a street light that very annoyingly set itself up in my frame). But we got some cute shots of our friends’ daughter, Zoey, playing with her first set of glow sticks, and we did have fun going out to the little town of Ramona to watch the fireworks show with friends. We set up in a grass field with about a hundred other cars and trucks, and it was very Americana feeling.

But on to today’s main feature! I give you Marshall Steven Holz as today’s featured newborn. He was a bit of a dream to work with as far as newborns go. No crying, no fussing, didn’t even fall asleep on us until the very end. And he came with a wide assortment of adorable green blankets, which just so happens to be my favorite color for babies to be surrounded by. Marshall came into this world with an English teacher daddy, a piano teacher mommy, and a rambunctious 1.5 year old brother just waiting for Marshall to be old enough to mess with, so suffice to say, this child will grow up with good grammar skills, musical talent, and a pretty hard head.

We had such a great time with this family, that we ended up extending the shoot from newborn to family. Stay tuned for part two of this shoot, where we introduce the parents and big brother!

Moses Maternity

Hello, everyone! We are writing from the road once again- this time from Las Vegas, at the annual Trementozzi Family Reunion. We’ve been having a blast, going to the strip, playing Wii with our little cousin Jessica, and just hanging out with family. But before we head off once more to the strip (to see the Stratsophere all lit up at night!), we wanted to put up a new post we’re excited to share with you- the Moses maternity shoot.

These are one of my favorite kinds of shoots.  There’s always so much love and adoration to see in maternity pictures. It’s totally different from engagement shoots, or even family shoots later on, after the baby is born. There’s so much anticipation.

(This is not one of Chris’ favorite kinds of shoots—but only because baby fever hits our house immediately following and for at least a week after the shoot. And during the entire editing process.)

(Chris would now like me to put in a disclaimer, that he loves all kinds of shoots. It is the excessive pleading for a newborn on my part, despite our “at-least-two-years” agreement we’ve got going on. What can I say—baby fever hits me hard when we take so many pictures of adorableness!)

This was an especially exciting shoot for us, as it was for one of Chris’ best, lifelong, known-each-other-since-they-were-in-kindergarten-and-grew-up-across-the-street-from-each-other-friends, Chris Moses. (Fun trivia: Chris has three best friends who grew up together, all of whom are named Chris. Or Kris. Crazy.) Chris Moses and his wife Shay are so beautiful together, and I absolutely adore how their photo session turned out. Our initial plans to shoot in downtown Redlands (where the Ch(K)rises were born and raised, and yes, the playground was where they spent most of their days) were rained out, but luckily we had already planned to be back in Redlands two weekends in a row, and our second shoot was a success. We had so much fun wandering around Redlands, playing on railroad tracks and discovering abandoned warehouses—just the kind of shoot we love. (Look closely, and you might even see a cameo or two of the photographers.) :)

Chris and Shay have had their baby since these pictures were taken, an adorable little guy named Will—keep watching in the future for photos of his newborn shoot, along with his cousin Nelly, who was born the same day!
