Engagement: Mike & Katie

Well, we survived the Great San Diego Power Outage of 2011. Being the technology freak that I am, I can’t quite say I enjoyed the “simplicity of the night” that many others are claiming they experienced. While various people posted from their smartphones about how romantic their candlelit dinner was, or how they gathered in impromptu neighborhood barbecues to cook up all their defrosting meat, or how they just simple loved sitting out, staring at the stars with their loved one, I was by myself, with no working flashlight and only a handful of wimpy tealights (vanilla scented, thank you, Ikea), trying to keep our non-water-drinking cat babies from dehydrating in our 90 degree house.

Suffice to say, I did not enjoy the power outage.

It was much nicer when Chris got home later that night – he’d stayed in his work neighborhood to avoid the craziness of the highways, and by then it was late enough that there was actual cool air coming in through our windows. And we finally got our power back around 2 a.m., which is fortunate, because we’ve been itching to put up this engagement post for a few days now!

Meet Katie and Mike. They’re getting married in just three weeks! We went out with them for their engagement shoot about a month and a half ago, and I can already tell– their wedding’s going to be FUN. Capital F, capital U, capital N. FUN.

And speaking of wedding’s, we’re packing up for the first of our “wedding season” right now! We’ve got the rehearsal dinner and pool par-tay coverage tonight, and tomorrow is going to be a beautiful wedding day! Everybody have a great weekend (and enjoy your air conditioning and bathroom lights– you never know when you suddenly won’t have them!).
